Liquid Yeast
Liquid yeast is the king when it comes to variety. There are literally hundreds of strains available with more being discovered all the time. No matter what you are brewing you should be able to find something for the flavors you want. I’ve compiled a quick list for almost every liquid yeast available for everything from beer, cider, wine, and even a few stronger strains.

Liquid yeast is much more delicate than dry yeast so try to use them when fresh. Try to pick them up at a local store when available. If that isn’t an option or you want a hard to find strain then make sure to buy ice packs to keep them cool during shipping. Some of the better homebrew sites even offer free ice packs but always make sure!
Most are actually fine for direct pitching in a standard five gallon batch of wort below a gravity of 1.060 but you’ll either have to make a starter or use multiple packs for bigger batches and big beers. Always try to follow the instructions and make sure to pitch the proper amount based on your beer. Wyeast includes a smack pack of yeast nutrients in their packs that never seems to pop but don’t worry as they will still work. At the very least warm your yeast up to the same temperature as your wort to avoid temperature shock.
