Sterilite Gasket Boxes Review
The Sterilite gasket boxes are a cheap alternative to more expensive airtight food storage containers. One of the suggested uses is pet food storage so I consider them safe enough for grain. They come in an 80, 54, 30 and 20-quart version. These are clear with blue latches but be aware Sterilite likes to change colors often. I bought two of the 54 quart totes for my main base grain storage.

The gasket boxes have latches and a foam gasket to secure the lid. The seal seems quite good and doesn’t buckle with weight on top. The bigger sizes have four latches while the smaller ones have only two. It probably wouldn’t hurt to throw an oxygen absorber or two to keep any residual moisture at bay. Don’t forget to check your gasket for any damage when you buy it as it is just foam.

The 54-quart tote will fit a whole fifty pound bag with just a bit of room left. Two 54 quart totes fit in the bottom my pantry nicely so these should set you up well for an ingredient closet. It’s a good idea to measure twice though if you are unsure of your storage space. My one gripe with these is that the smaller sizes are too big for my specialty grains and adjuncts. On a side note, I would avoid the 80-quart tote as it would be too heavy fully loaded and is really big. I’ll buy more if I decide to expand my grain vault.
PROS:
- Cheap
- The gasket provides a nice seal
- Latches hold the lid on tight
CONS:
- No small sizes
